My Childhood Bedroom

My first post!

How fitting that my first blog post would be about the place where it all began--my childhood home! Growing up, my mom was always encouraging me to get into crafty hobbies like sewing, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, etc. She also gave me free range to decorate my bedroom however I wanted--I painted a sun around the fan on my ceiling, a ballerina on the wall, hung collages, rearranged my furniture again and again--it was crazy how much freedom I had thinking back--mostly becasue my children will not be doing that to their walls EVER.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago--I was walking through HomeSense (actually trying to find a coffee table for our den) when I came across this Rifle Paper Co. rug that inspired the color scheme for this room. It's so pretty and went with the blue paint that's already in there. I kept walking and found the green swivel chair you see in the corner. To top it off, The rattan headboard was sitting in the back corner of the store on a cart! I sent pictures to my mom and we went back the next day to grab it all. We also threw in the Moulin Rouge poster!

Nowadays, this bedroom is used for the granddaughters to play in, and the occasional guest, so we wanted to make it fun and girly for them. My mom acquired a ton of American Girl stuff that needed storage as well as books and other knick knacks that needed a home. We found the arched bookcases from Target but one was definitely not enough. We got two and I think they look so cute next to each other!

The scalloped nightstands and dresser are the perfect girly accent to the room. Both are from wayfair! I've seen them on Instagram a ton lately and I've been dying to use them somewhere--this ended up being the perfect space. I thought it would be too matchy for them to be the same color so we went with white for the dresser and green for the nighstands.

The bedding! It is SO fun to be able to girl out in a bedroom with no boys to worry about. I got this pink ruffle duvet from The Company Store during a sale and floral print sheets from Target. The perfect combo!

It was so fun to come back to a space I used to be so familiar with and give it a little love. I always enjoy helping my mom at her house because her rooms have so much character--the trim, windows, molding, it's all so beautiful! I'm in the process of turning one of them into a little nursery for the grandbabies and I can't wait to see it come together!
